Interlinked Double Cloth
When transitioning from single cloth to double cloth, alternate pairs of threads are interlinked in front and others in the back, creating two layers of cloth. This technique is used for the hips and waist in leggings, as it produces greater stretch and more opaque cloth.
Intertwined Double Cloth
Intertwined structures can also be used for double cloth, such as this tassel made during the Nasca period (500-900 CE) in what is now Peru.
The Nasca tassels use six thread intertwining, which result in a much denser cloth than four thread, basic intertwining.
