Stripes with Full Twists
For this bag, the frame was warped in three colors with green and red stripes on a background of blue The top two rows of the diagram show the position of the stripes after warping. Each oval corresponds to one stitch, and each stitch uses two threads (one loop). For stripes A and E, one loop of red and one loop of green lie next to each other. In stripes B and D there is one loop of blue between the green and red loops. Stripe C, in the middle, had two loops of red and one loop of green, with blue loops separating the red and green.
In the third row of the diagram, some of the stitches show two colors. These two-color stitches are the full twists. These full twists move threads into different positions and can create a variety of patterns.

The figures below show stretched versions of each of the stripes above. The path of each thread is shown, including the sections that lie in the back and are not seen in the relaxed cloth.
